Carolina (Live at Antieau Gallery)

from The Wind Shakes The Trees - Live at the Antieau Gallery by Helen Gillet

about

This is my live performance of a song I wrote in 2012 inspired by the Carolina Parakeet. It's original version is on my self entitled debut solo album "Helen Gillet" 2012 recorded in Kansas City, MO with Chad Meise.

lyrics

Carolina

Two hundred years ago
Two men saw you from below
Two rivers meet and collide
You fly on the other side

Ghost waters talk of the Past
Flocking memories sure to last
Blind paint on a stone wall
History caught you after all

This bird is now extinct
Winged pictures make me think of
Carolina, Carolina
